François (1772 - 1843)

Another Mellerio, François (1772-1843), established the current jewellery House, Mellerio dits Meller.

In 1815 he left his first shop, at 4, rue du Coq Saint-Honoré to set up on rue de la Paix. He was thus the first jeweller to open up on this street which is now a symbol of French luxury. His establishment grew rapidly during the First Empire and throughout the 19th century. After the Duke of Orleans came to the throne in 1830, Mellerio dits Meller rose to the rank of chosen supplier to Queen Marie-Amélie and King Louis-Philippe.
