RIVIERA COLLECTION: EXPLORING THE 20TH CENTURY

Laure-Isabelle Mellerio, artistic director and president of Maison Mellerio, presents a new fine jewelry collection that pays tribute to the refinement of a lifestyle steeped in history and bliss.

Blending elegance and casualness, picturesque charm and love of the Avant-Garde, the French Riviera is naturally a source of inspiration for Maison Mellerio. Indeed, the family company, which came into being in the heart of the valley of the Painters during the Renaissance before moving to Paris in 1613, is well acquainted with these contrasting landscapes that serve as a gateway between France and Italy, and hold the secrets of the allure and the refinement of an art of living that willingly explored new paths, both in the fields of artistic creation as well as in architecture.

Laure-Isabelle Mellerio uses the warmth of yellow gold and the fire of the precious stones in her new Riviera collection to convey the uniqueness of this land with its unreal borders and draws its essence from its sublime shores and mild climate, which is both invigorating and relaxing at the same time.

Using noble metal to convey the relief of a landscape where the abrupt mountain ranges are juxtaposed with the limpid calm of the crystalline waves, in her new creations the artistic director deploys a Virgilian gold framework that showcases the mastery of the Maison's artisans. Sunlight seems to flow through the smooth gold, as if reflecting off the unchanging horizon of the sea, while the brushed gold seems to convey the genius of the natural forces that forged the mountains and the work of humankind who has traced sinuous routes along the corniches.

In tribute to the sixties and the glittering seasons characterized by festivity and joie de vivre, Laure-Isabelle Mellerio shapes light and enhances the colours that embellish these unique pieces, with their intertwining myriads of precious stones: soft emerald with its deep and intense green, evoking the parasol pines whose protective beauty is illuminated by the radiance of the diamond. A discreet evocation of the company’s centuries-old history, the ovoid shape develops its graceful convolutions in a subtle recollection of the Beau Sancy and the Dolce Vita.
