The Mellerio family joined their destiny to the History of France in 1613. In that year Marie de Medici granted all the members of this family from Craveggia the privilege of carrying out their activities in the Kingdom. This decree laid the foundations for an uninterrupted dynasty of jewellers, presided over today by Laure Isabelle Mellerio. For 14 generations, the House has celebrated this memory and expressed its gratitude to the Sovereign through a discreet evocation, which also serves as a nod to those in the know.

This evocation concerns the Beau Sancy, a historical jewel par excellence that belonged to Marie de Medici and that she wore at her coronation in 1610. The singular shape of this mythical gem can be described as an oval inscribed in an ellipse. This ovoid motif is a regular feature of the emblematic creations of Mellerio, multiplying, for example, on the legendary Peacock feather brooch designed for Empress Eugénie in 1868 and today on the Mellerio Cut.

The rounded design of the Riviera "Band" ring with its iconic ovoid shape, is once again revisiting that of the Mellerio Cut diamond, a reminder of the Beau Sancy diamond from the beginning. The Riviera Band, made of either smooth or brushed gold, reflects a sunny light and is combined with modernity with the brilliance of an immaculate white gold suggesting the asphalt under the squealing tyres of an Alfa Romeo coupé from the hippy years.

Collected, accumulated, combined as the wearer wishes, sometimes worn on the ring finger or thumb, or carelessly suspended on an improvised chain, Riviera Band is the unique sign of a clever and charming jewel that everyone will dream of adorning themselves with.

This year, star dancer Hugo Marchand has become Mellerio's jewelry ambassador and he embodies the Mellerio cut shape in particular, through dance.
